Tim was slightly nonplussed that I refuse to do a garter toss, but he's fine with it.
We're having an intense cupcakes-vs.-cake debate. (I am pro-cupcake; he is more cake.)
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Both! Do a small schmancy cake you can cut, and cupcakes for the eating!
Yes, both!

It's his garter, you should let him toss it! Oh, wait, you meant . . . ;)

I actually DID tell him that if we used one of his garters, I'd consider wearing it and letting him toss it. But it's truly a big no. I'm not fond of that tradition.

Tim's objection to the cupcakes -- at least, that he's told me about -- is that they're messy and drop crumbs because people eat them with their hands rather than on a plate with forks, and that means more for the B&B staff to clean up. I pointed out that our families aren't howler monkeys and will be neat and clean, but he was still dubious.
My objection to cake is that I need something gluten-free, and of the GF bakeries around here, I am not convinced they can make a *pretty* wedding cake. I have had an unbelievably delicious GF cake, but it was decorated for a birthday, which is way different than a wedding cake.
Are cupcakes "pretty"? I'm not sure why I'm okay with them -- the cupcake place I'm looking at DOES use really gorgeous cupcake papers, and the frosting is done really well -- but for some reason I don't need cupcakes to be as lovely as an actual cake. I dunno.
Yeah, I was thinking if you got cupcakes you could have some gluten free and some vegan and some regular, if you so desired.
I am sad--I broke my kindle. By sitting on it. On the plus side, better that than my iPad or phone, and its my last day here so it's not like I'll run out of stuff to read. Though annoyed at myself that this was the ONE DAY I didn't bring a paperback to the beach also, so had to leave Brenda to the cool breezes and head back to the house. Doh.
Why don't you have the groom's cake, and assorted cup cakes?
One wedding I went to this past summer had several small cakes -- like, five cakes, each maybe 6-8 inches in diameter, each one a different flavor, with a different kind of decoration.
ALL THE CAKES!
Tep, have them make a sample smaller cake a few months ahead.
