Am I supposed to be changing my clothes a lot? Is that the helpful thing to do?

Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Many many hugs to you, Maria. What everyone is saying here is true. You are very strong, don't forget it.

Maria - ignore them. Buffistas are wise. The hivemind is amazing.

I have a question for the hivemind, actually. A friend of mine is in deep financial hell. The family belongings have been in storage as her family has tried to regain their feet, but they are behind enough that the storage company is going to put their stuff up for auction next week.

Would filing for bankrupcy immediate help stop that? At least until the bankrupcy is worked out? How long is that process?

Ann, that's a ferret.

All sympathies to Caemon's family.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Suzi,

I think what they need to do is get cash (the minimum amount) for the storage company to cease this action.

Would they accept 2 months rent, I wonder. See if someone can loan/give them the $$ to make this happen.

I think bankruptcy paperwork might take too long for this.

Thanks le nub. She is trying to get money for the storage company. I paypaled her a bit and hopefully other friends will chip in enough to get them past this hurdle.

After being out of work for a while, she got a job working with the homeless through a huge non-profit. I'm sure asking for help for herself knowing how close she is to the same situation as her clients makes it so much harder.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The other thing too: can she sell some of her stuff before it is sold by the company? I wonder if she could raise enough $$ to keep some of her stuff.

Thrive to spite them

I was semi productive today - I went to the grocery store to stock up before the possible storm this weekend. Heard back from my shrink about the blood work he had done because I started lithium. He said my thyroid levels were high not enough to be caused by the lithium (which can cause high thyroid) but he was calling to say I should have my primary care doctor check it out. I don't remember the number but the levels are slightly over what "normal" is. I reminded him that I had him check it in the fall and he said it was on the high side then. I went to the primary care doctor who said it was within the normal range.

My shrink checked and the levels are slightly higher than they were last time. So I called and made an appointment iwth my primary care doctor for tomorrow and I'm going to ask if there's further testing we can do to find out if I'm having thyroid problems.

Then I called my gynecologist to make a consultation appointment to get my tubes tied. That's next week, evidently there's a government mandated 30 day waiting period for the procedure to actually happen.

And I'm going to go to knitting club tonight and hopefully finish this stupid glove I'm making that I haven't worked on since last Wednesday.

Yay, productivity, Askye. I hope they can figure out what is going on with your thyroid.

Our wings are not tired

Glam, so sorry for your friends.

Hil, that's great news on doggie adoption. I will offer one unsolicited observation. I have had a few friends over the years with Jack Russell Terriers. They are adorable dogs, but tend to be VERY high energy and need to run and be active a lot or they can get destructive. They are a pretty smart breed, which can be cool, but it means that they can get bored easily and they can be a handful unless well trained.
