Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I also feel guilty about staying in a 2 bedroom condo with no yard with my almost-3-year old and adding another kid, you know? Sucks.

Ha! Matilda still sleeps in the same bedroom with us (on her own platform bed) and won't have a room of her own until Emmett goes to college in two years.

I used to feel bad about it but I'm coming around to believe that the notion that every kid must have a bedroom of their own to be decadent American wastefulness.

Even though Emmett is the only person in the house with his own room, it was only very recently (last couple years) that he spent much time there. He preferred to be in the living room with the other humans. Now he goes to his room in the evening to do his homework and watch stuff on his iPad or chat with friends, but really he didn't really desire his own place until he was 14.

Anyway, just wanted to report that four people in a two bedroom place isn't always tragic.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Aww, congrats, Glam!

I'm a little overwhelmed with people who feel the need to point out that I have too many books, and that we're not fully unpacked yet.

We weren't "fully unpacked" after ten years. The people saying those things are jerks. Also, there is NO SUCH THING as too many books.

ION, one of my co-workers just gave me a super-cute pair of shoes! They'd been languishing in her closet forever, and she figured I'd like them. [link]

I know, David. And Shane is still in our bed so he doesn't really need his own room (except as a place to stash the toys taking over our living room). Still sucks to think you're getting into a house with 3 bedrooms and a yard only to end up staying put in your cramped quarters. I was really looking forward to the yard - this kid is up at 5:30AM and it would have been nice to let him outside without having to be all dressed and stuff when the sun came up.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

cute shoes!

Congrats GC and don't worry about the two bedroom. My kids have their own rooms and yet rarely do they sleep the whole night alone. Isaac wants company so every night he seeks it, either coming to our bed or going to his sister's. And they go through phases of voluntarily sharing a bedroom for a month or more. I shared a bedroom until college. Kids don't need their own rooms.

Unpossible! That concept does not exist

Thrive to spite them

I got rid of a bunch of books when Mom was here, I still have a bunch in boxes because is there no room. But as Mom said - I'm a person who loves books and there's nothing wrong with that.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Now he goes to his room in the evening to do his homework and watch stuff on his iPad or chat with friends

That's what you think (coughPORNcough) he's doing.

Oh, wait--you didn't specify what's on the iPad.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

sj,

so, I still have boxes in the house and in my office. someone jokingly asked me (in my campus office), when will you be unpacked?

My answer was: when I have time to do it.

This summer sucked. I have unpacked my most immediate needs. Unless you want a screaming nubian, give me a few weeks, I'll get there.

Finally told our realtor we were halting the search. I knew she'd be cool and she totally was. She was absolutely the best realtor we've been with. If you're in the LA-area and need someone, let me know. She's GREAT!
