Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Plei, did your DH already tell you about how we pulled up right behind the bus as the driver was locking down the baggage section, and had to sprint out and flag him down at the speed of light? Thrilling! It was like being in a crazy urban adventure film or a TAR episode, only with a muzzy-headed child and a car seat.

Ha! No, Paul has not been in contact yet this morning. I'll have to tell him how J and H were frantically trying to find ALL THE THINGS this morning when I dropped Lilly off at their house. They just got back from a week at J's folks' place, and of course, everything's still in suitcases.

I had been worried because we were running late, but they were running even later than we were!

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

By the way, latest update on my brother's wedding: apparently my dad was having a calm and rational conversation until my mom flipped out and everything became a yelling match again. Now the deal is that, actually, no, they can't do April/May because that's when a relative is getting married, so if they don't want a spring/summer wedding, they can have the wedding next October, since, after all, "There's an October every year." They now have no hope that my brother will dump FSIL, so they want some time to "heal" and get to know her, not having bothered to get to know her in the last two years. And my mom is coming here for a month next week, and they can't be bothered to meet her before then, or after then, or anything, I guess. Also, if my brother goes through with this, it will be a sign to the family that marrying a white woman is acceptable, never mind the fact that my cousin is openly dating a Filipina girl and his parents don't care. Never mind the fact that the rest of the family already supports my brother. Finally, they're mad at my brother for talking to his aunts and uncles about this because it was a big secret only they were allowed to talk about, not, you know, his actual life.

I just get angrier and angrier at them for the way they're treating him.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I don't blame you for being angry at them. And I presume your brother will have the wedding when he and his fiance damn well want, without regard for their arbitrary scheduling demands.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I believe the hivemind predicted that if they gave ground on the date, the demands would never stop. Also, seriously, your parents are acting the way mine did when I came out. My mom refused to meet my girlfriend, and I was forbidden to tell any extended family. I did tell my dad's side, because my aunt figured it out. AND THEY WERE ALL FINE WITH IT.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

P-C, your parents demands are no longer sounding even a little reasonable. I hope that your brother and future sister-in-law decide to have the wedding that they want to have when they want to have it.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Thank you for the bountiful Bitch birthday wishes!

P-C, I am sorry that your mother finds it so difficult to let go and let you and your brother live your lives.
