Moving sucks. Just fuck.
Yes, it truly does. You have all my sympathy.
Aims, best of luck. You are a brave woman.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Erin,
glad you are at peace wit your decision.

I leave town Tuesday morning and there is so much to do before then. I'm trying to not freak out.
Ryan had his first playdate this weekend. A boy from his childcare, Lucas, came over (with his parents). Much little-boy fun was had with trains and blocks. Lucas, however, rejected the suggestion that they watch Richard Scarry's Busy People DVD, an event which is still scandalising Ryan a day later.
Lucas is already five years old, so next year he'll have left childcare and go off to school. Could be the first time anyone really leaves Ryan's life.

Scandalous!

It's true! The social upheaval of leaving preschool and starting kindergarten is brutal. Franny's only true regret about starting kindergarten was losing out on her then-best friend, Max. Isaac was luckier in that he was part of a group of 4 boys whose parents are more social and so we've managed to stay in touch with all of them throughout the years.
Moving~ma to all the moving-house humans and kitties!
ER~ma for ita !.
There is not enough gymnastics in my Olympics today.
I had Plans to Do Stuff today, but fuckity, it's hot as sweaty balls and I don't want to get off the couch, with this nice cool breeze from the ceiling fan. I think instead I'll do the overtime work I have scheduled, and save the work that requires moving around for when it's cooler. Say, September.
Aims, good luck to you!
le nub, wishing you lots of spoons. I hope everything goes smoothly. I don't know how far you're moving, but when do you expect to be in your new place?
Hey Strix, per your latest FB update, I just realized that your DH and mine are one day apart in age! (M's 35th birthday is tomorrow.)
Rose update: so far today we've had one half-hour nap in the crib, then a full-on meltdown when I tried to put her down for nap #2. I tend to second-guess myself a lot ("is she really hungry/tired/whatever? am I doing the right thing?") but she was so clearly tired this time, and yet so fiercely determined not to succumb! I tried from 10-10:30, then called it quits and brought her back out into the living room, where she was happy for about 5 minutes and then started crying again. So M took her back into the bedroom; after a few minutes, he decided to put her down and leave the room, to see if she'd cry herself to sleep if neither of us was around. After maybe 5 minutes of screaming, we couldn't take it anymore, so he went back in with her, and she fell asleep almost immediately in his arms. Oy!
Rose sounds stubborn. She doesn't want to miss anything while taking those pesky naps. Any new pics?

Oh yes. I worry too much about Ryan in this regard. He's like me in many ways, which has its good points (not least being a daddy who's on his wavelength), but the full package also comes with often severe physical and social awkwardness. So, I worry about him. Needlessly so far; he socializes very well at childcare, he seems to be quite popular with everyone. (And the staff just adore him.)
And the staff just adore him.
Well, I mean, I would fear for their sanity otherwise.
Any new pics?
sj, thanks for asking! Here's one M just posted to FB today: [link] Should be visible to anyone who's friends with me; if there are Buffistas I'm not yet FB-friends with, just let me know and I'll add you.
