Okay, I'm glad you asked this here because I totally would not have answered on facebook, but we broke our Murphy bed with sex. Admittedly it was pretty vigorous newlywed 18 year old sex, so...
And this was our first studio apartment, the same one where I put the SO through the wall, so it was probably not the highest grade furniture. It was still sturdy enough and there was no fold up while asleep danger.
You would definitely want to try it because it's pretty tough manipulating it for most people. And it doesn't exempt you from making the bed because it usually doesn't fold up with the bedding on it. Like a sofa pullout bed, you can snag fitted sheets pretty badly on the springs.
When down it takes a lot of floorspace, which must remain clear so you can put it down, and when up it takes a lot of wall space. The other bit of the story I didn't tell on fb was that we had it down (for early evening sexytimes) and friends unexpectedly came over. We sat them on the couch, which meant their feet were basically on the edge of the bed, but the SO was trapped half nekkid in the bed, which we then could not put up!
It worked fine in general, though, and I would consider another for our guestroom. Now we have two twin beds and box springs in there which we stack on each other for daybed style couch, separate or push together for single or couple guests. It's flexible, if not all that comfortable.
