Spike's Bitches 47: Someone Dangerous Could Get In

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Are you thinking that you'd just put the bed up in he wall when guest came over? They're kind of a huge pain in the ass. I knew someone with one in NYC and she really regretted the Murphy as their main bed.

Exactly, when folks are over, I can tuck the bed out of the way. 90% of the time, it would be down. The pain in the ass factor is what I'm wondering. I suppose I need to visit the show room, and see if I can physically do it. Not a fan of futon's. The whole fold in half thing was really annoying. I had one for my couch for almost 10 years. With the move, I was planning to buy a platform bed that has dresser drawers underneath.

Our wings are not tired.

Yeah, I don't love futons either. Do you think a bed would just be in the way?

The door into the bedroom is on one side of the room, the sliding glass door to the porch is on the opposite corner. And I'm not one to make the bed. Seems easier/faster to tuck it up when company comes. But... the spring loaded action, I wonder how it is long term. Does it get dusty/gunky and hard to operate? How hard is it to do? Does the mattress slide down after awhile? Will it flip up whie I'm in it? And, if I should ever get lucky again, how is it with sex? (hey, it's Bitches, it's a fair question)

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Okay, I'm glad you asked this here because I totally would not have answered on facebook, but we broke our Murphy bed with sex. Admittedly it was pretty vigorous newlywed 18 year old sex, so...

And this was our first studio apartment, the same one where I put the SO through the wall, so it was probably not the highest grade furniture. It was still sturdy enough and there was no fold up while asleep danger.

You would definitely want to try it because it's pretty tough manipulating it for most people. And it doesn't exempt you from making the bed because it usually doesn't fold up with the bedding on it. Like a sofa pullout bed, you can snag fitted sheets pretty badly on the springs.

When down it takes a lot of floorspace, which must remain clear so you can put it down, and when up it takes a lot of wall space. The other bit of the story I didn't tell on fb was that we had it down (for early evening sexytimes) and friends unexpectedly came over. We sat them on the couch, which meant their feet were basically on the edge of the bed, but the SO was trapped half nekkid in the bed, which we then could not put up!

It worked fine in general, though, and I would consider another for our guestroom. Now we have two twin beds and box springs in there which we stack on each other for daybed style couch, separate or push together for single or couple guests. It's flexible, if not all that comfortable.

the thing I love about b.org... ya ask a crazy question and ya get answers. Is there anything we, as a group don't know?

See, this is good to know. Because, that's the biggest reason I was thinking about it. I wonder if that's the same case for the piston style instead of spring style.

I say, get the platform bed you want, and don't care who sees your bed unmade. Making the bed just traps dust mites in there, anyway.

Trying to decide if I should get a haircut today, or leave it long. If I get sideswept bangs, which side should they sweep from?
