Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I am in enough pain that I can't go into work this morning, and I am out of pain meds. I am at a loss. I will try and get pain meds early, and I will try and work from home, but I'm not optimistic about either route.

Librarian Warlord

I'm sorry ita, what a sucktastic way to start the day.

When I got to work today at 7:30, I discovered that the Desk Attendant who should have opened the library at 7 a.m. wasn't here, and there were two law students with their noses pressed up against the glass waiting for someone to arrive. I bought them each a coffee, and now I'm waiting for the desk attendant to either show her face or for the next of kin to call me and tell me she's in hospital.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

My sniffles have NOT progressed to a full-blown cold, and I scheduled myself for a 9-3 shift (the longest shift I've yet had) earlier this week. At least, as a public-facing job, I CAN get sent home if I'm not visibly well, but as I really really need the money, I'd better at least try.

This is nothing compared too "in too much pain to work" I know.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm TENSing my ankle to try to get it to the point where I'm functional. Unfortunately, it's having the side effect of putting me to sleep -- I didn't get much sleep because the pain was too bad, so now that the pain is receding, my body is responding by trying to get that sleep.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

So apparently remembering to bring my breastpump breastshields to work means leaving my keys at home. Come on brain, day 3 is too early to be pulling this shit!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, while not nearly as bad as what some you people are dealing with, I can say that reading two different things that make me want to cry is NOT the best way to start my morning. Ugh.

hip deep in pie

Sue, what is his heart rate if he is tachycardic? Are they thinking meds over something mechanical?

I don't really know Kat. I think his heart rate is normal-sih most of the time. Right now he is in ICU, but they have unhooked him from the defibrillator. (But it's nearby.) They are planning to install a pacemaker/defibrillator to respond to future episodes.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Oh dear, this is not shaping up to be a good morning, is it?

ita I am so sorry about the pain. Sending you love, but wish I could do more for you.

I have a long day ahead of me since I have a dinner function I have to go to on campus tonight and won't get home until 9 or so. But I am looking forward to the dinner, so I don't want to sound churlish. I'm just worried about how to keep my energies up for an 11-12 hour day on campus.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

On the upside, a work thing that was shaping up to be a total clusterfuck when I left yesterday is now basically taken care of. It really is better to be lucky than good (although I am also good).

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I just misread this headline:

Uganda presidential spokesman: Libya's Moammar Gadhafi would be welcome to live in asylum in Uganda - AP

And thought "Wow, that's catty." Then I realized Uganda was offering asylum. Not offering to put Gadhafi in an asylum.

Time for more coffee.
