"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

sumi,

that is pretty crazy. The only way that would be okay (in my eyes) is if the administrator got estimates on house painting and donated that sum to the program.

Otherwise, you aren't going to tell me that painting individual property counts as this activity. Where is the educational value?

Erg.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

My female type is typically aggro. Or Christina Hendricks.

If we could only get her to play Big Barda.

I don't have a type. A fair number of Jewish girls, but the only common personality trait is a certain warmth to the personality. Physically they've been everything from 5'1" to 6 feet tall, skinny as a rail to quite bodacious, brunettes, blondes, redheads, WASPy girls, Jewish girls, hmmm, not a lot of Italians (though JZ has both Italian and Greek), Asian (Filipino), Hispanic (Half Mexican, actually), Black (extremely beautiful, tall and bodacious. I think she's just swinging with the girls nowadays. In Portland, now that I think of it, meara...).

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I don't have a physical type. Boys, girls, tall, short, skinny, stocky/curvy, blond(e), brunette, white, mixed... Mostly I go for outsized personalities (KBD was a blip, there), and they all seem to have a hidden brick wall that I run into. Repeatedly. Hrmph.

"You can be used, at will, by figures of authority."

Okay, not educational value per se. But an unfortunate lesson those kids will take into their futures.

Ergh. How dumb can people be?

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

I'm pretty sure that every Buffista who works for a uni or looniversity just got a "No, no, profoundly stupid idea" gut-cramp.

Yes, definitely. Wish you the best with the tension, sumi.

I love Grant Imahara!

Jessica, I'm probably no help, because when I was on a trivia team with smonster, our (now former) mayor (who is gay) and one of the neighboring town's councilmen (who used to be his boyfriend) we changed our name every week to things like Bent Over for Beckham or Kissing Jessica Stein Mart.

Paul clearly passed that in practice.

CLEARLY.

Imago theory suggests that it's your brick wall, dressed up differently. It would be interesting to see what sorts of themes keep popping up and why they are familiar to you. That way, you can identify that 'need/expectation' that brick wall signals and get it met in a different way.

When push comes to shove, many of my clients are more invested in the safety of 'difference' than in the exploration of similarities when relationships are difficult, but it is that inquiry that can breed the most positive change.

Honestly, when a couple laments, "We are just different people!" I want to do the 'baroo?' head tilt. As opposed to what?! Of COURSE you are different, and thank god for it. Why would you want to be the same? (the fantasy says 'same = comfortable'...the reality, nsm)

A group of burly gentlemen are raising an enormous tent just across the street from me.

The calls of "One, Two, Three!" with pauses for herculean tugs is making it seem as if the circus has come to town.

Ah, yes, my "type" used to be emotionally unavailable!

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Wow, I'm getting so many compliments today!! Both on my hair and (I think due to the fact that it's actually warm enough for me to wear one of my new summer shirts that actually fit me and don't bag on my torso) on my weight loss. My neighbor who works in the cafeteria loves the hair, and then he asked me how much I've lost. Both he and the grill guy, who was standing next to him, said I'm lookin' good!
