ImememeN, I finally did my mile swim in under an hour today!!! 59 minutes, baby. Woot!!!

Nice going, Kathy! Now go calculate you average lap speed and realize how freaking much faster per lap you just did! Even a second faster, it's huge when you think about it. My speed can vary 3-4 seconds/ lap depending on how I'm feeling and I feel every one of those seconds. On my faster days, i really feel it later in the evening. (Today was a faster one. Ow.)

Yeah, I was definitely a bit sore after getting out of the pool today! I think what speeded me up in the past week was my concentrating on my kicking, and then today, I made sure to push off from the side of the pool and keep my arms in front of me for longer than I had been before I start my first stroke. Oh, and I made sure I was kicking as soon as I pushed off, so that first stroke didn't happen until I was a few yards into the lap. My number of strokes per length was definitely fewer today!

The other ridiculously rich family I knew was tech-money rich. Venture capitalist, owned four houses (and a vineyard) in Northern California, was the angel donor at our school. One year he provided bonuses to whole staff. Those of us who were there for 2 years got $10,000 and those of us who were there a year got $5,000. It was the first last and only time I received a bonus as a teacher.

I have nothing to contribute on the "Rich People" thread. Rich people I have known have been bosses and casual acquaintances rather than friends. For what it is worth they have spanned a broad range of human behavior ranging from "psychotic asshole" to "really nice person".
