Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ugh, smonster -- good luck to you.

I'm offended by the number of people who take offense at ridiculous things. Relax, everybody. And leave Sophia alone!

Seriously!!

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Some people will take offense at ANYTHING. Seriously - I once lived in a little garden apartment complex and one person was deeply offended that someone had awakened her at, like, 2am ... because they thought the building was on fire.

When she was ranting about how inconsiderate it was, I suggested that the next time she could be left to burn ... which, of course, also offended her.

What is kind of amusing is that the person who was telling me how rude this was is also made because the University had a campaign to stop people from using the word "retard".

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Hivemind - does my now former employer have to pay me out vacation leave? Ta.

eta:

No, our vacation policy states that vacation and/or sick time has no monetary value. We do not pay out for time not taken.

Well, shit.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I would say time accrued would have to be paid unless there are special circumstances.

They suck so much.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Is that legal to say vacation time has no monetary value? What a fucked up policy.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

That... fails logic. If it's part of their compensation package (like, "we offer n days of vacation a year"? as opposed to "for these random two weeks, you're furloughed with no choice in the matter"?), it has a value, no matter how hard they try to douchemonkey their way out of it.

This is my question.

Librarian Warlord

An employer may lawfully establish a policy or enter into a contract denying employees payment for accrued vacation leave upon separation from employment, so long as the employer has properly notified its employees in writing of the vacation policy. N.C. Gen. Stat. § 95-25.12; NC Dept. of Labor FAQs; NC Admin. Code 13 NCAC 12.0306.

Sorry, smonster.
