Natter 68: Bork Bork Bork
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Dang, I want msbelle to do our taxes this year. We'z gonna owe a bit.
Today's onerosity: taxes, installing a new dryer (which was a FAIL!), and grading. Plus grading. And grading.
I am freaking out over next week. Spring break for my kids, but I'm still teaching. Sister and her family coming on Tuesday. Oh, and Easter! eek!
I'm Godzilla, apparently.
Onerous non-work-related task: making appointment to give Toyota a lot of my money in order to make sure my car stops when I press the brake pedal.
How long should brake pads last? I had new rear brake pads installed in December 2009, and by June 2010 they were down to 4 mm. Don't new pads start at 12 mm? It seems really sketchy that my brake pads would wear down 75% in 6 months.
That said, I'm not sure if the current source of the horrific sound when I brake is the front or the rear brakes.
Hmm, I'm a Pirate and my husband is Undead. And it appears I'm raising a Time Traveler and a Ninja. I think Isaac is going to psyched about that one.
I've done my federal, and started the process for filing the state about 4 times, but never finished. I need to do that before I leave town on Saturday.
Speaking of which
EVERYONE SHOULD COME TO SAN FRANCISCO
She says as she leaves town!!
EVERYBODY SHOULD COME TO SAN FRANCISCO starting next weekend. But not May 1-3.
I'm Undead. Not loving it. ::bits fall off::

Maybe it depends on how you drive?
A friend had a Toyota Corolla and she had to replace her pads every 9 months or a year, IIRC. But she tends to do this 'hit the gas, hit the brakes, hit the gas, hit the brakes' thing.
Her Prius only needs brake pad replacements every three or so years. Maybe it's the regenerative braking that saves the pads.
In the typical onerous task day side effect, I got my mailing list completely updated and ready to go, while avoiding doing financials. Okay, lunch now, and then I'll have another go at the numbers.

If there were a textual version of a shamefaced foot-shuffle, I would be doing it right now. Yeah, I pretty much drive that way. But I just don't remember replacing my brakes very often before this. (And no, that's not because I drove them down to the metal. Perhaps I have become a worse driver. Most people who have ridden with me would agree with that.)
Well, bah. I like my money with me, not Toyota. But I also like my car to stop when I ask it to.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND THIS MEETING! IT'S NOT IN ENGLISH! I'M PAYING ATTENTION AND EVERYTHING!
