On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Continuing the Great Magic Cards Are Actually Still Worth Something Saga:

We found the binder we thought had been stolen, containing ancient and rare cards. Our buyer went through it, chortling to himself, then made us the offer of $4300. Gleeble. Reader, we took it.

There's a new laptop waiting for me at home. We're going to pay our rent three months in advance, just 'cause we can. Hell, we may buy a car--yeah, we're not very high brow car buyers.

Gleeble. And damn it all for reinforcing Hubby's "But those will be worth something some day!" tendencies, bless the man.

I'm not going to the gym tonight, I'm gonna go home and play with my new 'puter.

I wonder if the management company is planning on telling the other tenants in your building?

ita, whenever you have a procedure to the PTU people call you back? Cause I go through this panic that they won't call every time. I should know better.

Connie, I'm glad you guys found the cards! It really is surprising what folks will pay for Magic cards. I sold off a bunch of mine back in 2007 for around five grand.

Oh yeah, I should put a note up.

That's great, Connie!

It's kind of frightening watching this guy half my age pull a wad of hundreds out of his wallet and hand them over.

Of course, Hubby then asked if we should go home, throw it all on the bed, and roll around in it. I said no--after a moment's thought.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Connie, are those the cards you thought had been stolen?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Am I a pretentious loser or a sociopath?

Pretty sure I can exhibit traits of both.

And, yeah, I think anyone who posts here is pretentious to some degree. But that's not a negative to me. We value knowledge and stuff.

Is winter hitting early? I swear I thought I just made dinner and want to crawl into sleep. It was 4:30. No way was pancakes a good idea. Except for how I used up a box of mix I've had in my cupboard for way too long. So my subpar pancakes tasted of buckwheat and victory.
