You were very nearly devoured by a giant demon snake. The words 'let that be a lesson' are a tad redundant at this juncture.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

Connie, I'm glad you guys found the cards! It really is surprising what folks will pay for Magic cards. I sold off a bunch of mine back in 2007 for around five grand.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I wonder if the management company is planning on telling the other tenants in your building?

Oh yeah, I should put a note up.

That's great, Connie!

It's kind of frightening watching this guy half my age pull a wad of hundreds out of his wallet and hand them over.

Of course, Hubby then asked if we should go home, throw it all on the bed, and roll around in it. I said no--after a moment's thought.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Connie, are those the cards you thought had been stolen?

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Am I a pretentious loser or a sociopath?

Pretty sure I can exhibit traits of both.

And, yeah, I think anyone who posts here is pretentious to some degree. But that's not a negative to me. We value knowledge and stuff.

Is winter hitting early? I swear I thought I just made dinner and want to crawl into sleep. It was 4:30. No way was pancakes a good idea. Except for how I used up a box of mix I've had in my cupboard for way too long. So my subpar pancakes tasted of buckwheat and victory.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Awesome, Connie! That's great news for you guys and must give you two a huge surge of both relief and financial ease.

Connie, are those the cards you thought had been stolen?

Yeah, they were in a binder in the garage under an alternator and some scrap metal. We are relieved not to have to peer sullenly at some of our friends any more.

Oh! And while cleaning out the garage I found a box that contains most of my genealogical research--nearly 30 years of work--and a bunch of writing that I'd been worrying about.

Cleaning the garage can be quite profitable.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

whenever you have a procedure to the PTU people call you back?

No, not usually. Although I was hoping the ER would call me back today, because they did a shitload of bloodwork on me yesterday. I can only hope that means it was all normal, but if it was all normal, what explains all the stuff? I never know why all the stuff.

Many here will dig the site Coilhouse dug up on Women of the Future, as seen from 1902.
