Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oooooh, which one?

DJ FFlood, on turntables--me and him grew up together in Jamaica, and we're still in touch. Liner notes were a complete surprise, though.

After I left my MI job, the company closed down. The President and VP realised they could chase their dreams just like I could, so they did, and their dreams were elsewhere, so bye bye computer store. That was kinda startling.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

megan, that sounds a great deal like what happened at my last job. After I left, a staff member a month left for the next year. There was a running joke about doing a calendar of all the refugees. Of that office of about 25, only half a dozen of the folks I worked with are still there.

The funny thing is, if they had promoted me way back when, when I made my case, I probably would have stayed, even with the crappy pay and long hours. And they essentially told me that they knew I was a lynchpin and that the dominoes would fall if I left. And yet they chose to do nothing.

Admittedly, I never thought A. would leave, since he makes more and it goes much further for him (as he works at home in Phoenix). But, it was so bad that he actually just quit with no other job.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

It's Friday afternoon: what's everyone doing this weekend?

Tomorrow morning, I've got an appointment at the local Bally's to check it out. I'm getting a bit bored with just relying on swimming laps for my exercise and want to go to a place that has various classes included as part of the membership (unlike my park district facility, where all classes are extra). I'm going to be looking for cleanliness and a comfortable air temperature inside, as well as a good vibe to the place (I don't want to feel like a whale amongst swans). The price is right--only $20/month, which is half the cost of the combined pool/fitness center membership at the park district, which has much worse hours and that whole classes-cost-extra thing.

After I get finished with the tour and check out the machines and a short swim at the pool before stopping by the whirlpool and steam bath and then showering, I get to clean my apartment, since Dad's coming up on Sunday.

In between the appointment, cleaning, and parental visit, I'm working on my cross-stitch piece. I'm still waiting for the materials for that Deco project, so I started this Father Winter sampler in the meantime. I've had the kit since 1994, so it was about time I got to work on it, right?

Because books.

Revisions, blog stuff, and hoping to catch up on some DVR'd TV if Sara goes camping with her friends. I think S. has to take Ben to get new sneakers, too. The excitement never ends.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

it turns out to be a CAUSAL cocktail party.

That's kind of awesome.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Because of my TMJ, I got gas for my root canal. And when the endondotist started the procedure, he suggested a bit block to hold my mouth open. Then they had to search the office for a child-sized bite block because my mouth doesn't open very far. I'm sure as shit not leaving that office without a Rx for painkillers.

The moms polished off both the bottle of Prosecco and the Moscato! Go moms!

Amyth, yeah, I could see how you would be. He seems moody.

Right? He definitely gives off, "Don't even think about it."

I want to play drums in the Off Topic Amys. But I don't know how to play drums.

Me, I'm going to the mountains to scrape paint and stack wood. And do some reading and hiking, I hope!

You can play drum machine. This would require a functional index finger. And you would have to look rad.

But I don't know how to play drums.

Not a problem! We won't be sticking to the set list anyway.
