I'm wondering if I should start getting concerned.
Tired of EPIC NATURAL DISASTERS!!! Record heat, record earthquake, now possibly "the worst hurricane impacts in 50 years along the northern part of the Atlantic seaboard as Irene plows northward."

am supposed to meet up with my old neighbors in Fells Pt Saturday night. I'm not sure if the latter is going to happen. Pretty sure the former will but it'll be an awful drive, potentially.
Sarameg, the Mayor's already talking about making that area a no parking zone. Last worst-case-scenario (Isabel), we were moving the cars we could get to at 3am, so this seems like a wise idea. Here's hoping the storm turns.
ETA Half of me wants to drive down there with sandbags right now, even though I know this is a ridiculous thing to do.
Yeah, we might need to meet up at Hamilton tavern if at all. Somewhere higher. (I haven't had a chance to read the news yet.) As long as it is headed up the Chesapeake, downtown will flood.
I'm bummed because my SiL and the kids aren't going to come up for my grandmother's service -- they're in Chesapeake, and the weather is already bad, plus they'd have to come over the bridge/tunnel, which I believe might be closing. The kids are all disappointed.
But my brother is still going to come down from Rhode Island, which is good.

eep! Take care everybody! Now you have me worrying too.
I guess I should take in the deck furniture and plants tomorrow night. Put them in the basement. Probably should fold down the porch set and lay it flat. I don't want them crashing around. They're heavy, but. We'll see about the hanging plants.
Hurricanes are so hard to second guess. A little wobble in the path and it could miss you. You just have to prepare and hope for the best.
This one is so huge, we'll get something.
My bro is flying in to DC tomorrow and is supposed to drive my niece to B.U. to move her into college. First day of her freshman year and she is beyond excited--hope she doesn't have to be late because of the storm.
Last I heard, we're expecting it Sunday night, so they may be able to more or less beat it. At least on the way up.
