Because books.

It's coming down buckets.

We just had the weirdest storm. Wind, more wind, no power!, lots of lightning, a rainbow!, a few raindrops, more really threatening clouds and lightning, and now it seems to be over.

PECO guy just showed up -- the transformer station is right across the street, so we watched him walk in with his flashlight and essentially flip a switch. Let there be light internet.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

MFNlaw, does this sound bananas to you? It's just that I'm dealing with a jerk, right?

Jason is right on all counts. It is crazy--there are hundreds of thousands of your car on the road, not counting the Pontiac version, which is exactly the same except for the name and badging. If there is a shortage, someone would have made noise about it sooner. The dealership (and the service advisor) are lazy. You need to make sure you ding them on the customer satisfaction survey once it arrives. Bad scores on the survey mean bad things happen to the dealer--potential loss of allocation, loss of preferred funding, etc.

You don't need to worry about selling the car, and if you continue to get the run around, ask for the service manager. If that doesn't get you satisfaction, ask for the regional district manager. Oh, and tweet @chevrolet. Really. It makes things happen very quickly. Let me see what my contact says first before we go to social media escalation. I should have something tomorrow (fingers crossed),

Yes, call Atlanta tomorrow, get the part, and then make the dealership reimburse you for the overnight shipping. If you get it, let me know so I can call off the hounds in Detroit.

brenda, I do not envy you tonight. Good luck! If it was me, I'd stay quiet to not ruin her birthday. If necessary, you can fudge and say you found out after you had dinner--at least it's the same day, so it's not an outright fudging of days.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Do not fuck with buffistas. They will cut you.

I got a very rude eggplant in my CSA today, and my first reaction, after laughing uproariously, was to tweet a picture of it to Craig Ferguson.

It's the geek mafia code: we take care of our own. Or it could be html. Depends on who you ask.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I was just looking at the schedule for the agricultural fair here next week, and one of the groups playing is The Vogues. Now I can't stop singing "Five O'Clock World." I'm kind of surprised they're still touring -- wouldn't they be in their seventies or so by now? And they didn't really have all that many hit songs.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

I got to snuggle a 7 week old baby this evening. Ahhhh, sweet baby. She even fell asleep in my arms. She is the daughter of our karate Master. The guy I will be testing with in a couple of months (eeeep). His wife and girls train at my dojo.

Today, once again, proves how hard Buffistas ROCK.

Do not fuck with buffistas. They will cut you.

And then fix your car.

And bring you wine, drive you to/meet you at the hospital and give you a place to live. And sometimes threaten your life, but only in jest.

Pool reopened at 8:20. I was in my first lap 6 minutes later. Was really fast tonight. I love my lap timer. I am perhaps a little crazy. Jackie (the life guard) was all "I was worried you were going to miss tonight!" I laughed at her, cause of course she loves it when the pool closes early cause she can go home early.
