On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

You know, there's nothing quite like starting the day with OMGWTF DUDE YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT sexist comments from normally nice partners.

(in fairness, I think he realized how bad it sounded as he was saying it, but he couldn't unring the bell)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I ran a Twitter contest this morning, and I'm now sending a galley of the book to Brazil. Oops?

Fair warning - we've switched to a digital-files-only policy for all of our Brazil-based clients because of far too many tapes being "lost" going through customs. And that's sending via Fedex.

Because books.

Ugh, Jessica. Well, if she doesn't get it ... she doesn't get it. It's free, after all.

The "privilege" thing was making me think about my student worker. She is a registered Republican, but says she is really a libertarian. And she and her husband are planning on moving to Norway so their children (hypothetical thus far) can get a "free" education and "free" healthcare. But she is very against socialism.

People like that strike me as just having no idea what the term 'socialism' actually means.

Reminds me of being in 10th grade and learning about different economic and political systems and being absolutely floored when I discovered that 'communist' wasn't actually another term for 'pure evil', which is sort of what I was led to believe as a child.

She is the very definition of hypocrite.
