Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

The "privilege" thing was making me think about my student worker. She is a registered Republican, but says she is really a libertarian. And she and her husband are planning on moving to Norway so their children (hypothetical thus far) can get a "free" education and "free" healthcare. But she is very against socialism.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Aw, kids.

People like that strike me as just having no idea what the term 'socialism' actually means.

Reminds me of being in 10th grade and learning about different economic and political systems and being absolutely floored when I discovered that 'communist' wasn't actually another term for 'pure evil', which is sort of what I was led to believe as a child.

She is the very definition of hypocrite.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

There have been news stories about various politicians who are against "government handouts" who have, in the past, gotten various benefits from that same government. Like the protesters with "keep government out of my Medicare" signs.

People baffle me.

There's obviously nothing wrong with wanting to move somewhere so your children can reap the benefits of that place. But to do so while claiming to be against the very system that will be providing for those hypothetical children? I don't get it.

I think there's kind of a disconnect - "socialism" is bad, but getting the government to pay for education, healthcare, etc., for yourself and your family is good, so therefore it's not really socialism. Insane troll logic.
