"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The NYT Peter Falk obit [link] is great.

Peter Michael Falk ...grew up in Ossining, N.Y, where his father owned a clothing store and where, in spite of his missing eye, he was a high school athlete. [He lost the eye to cancer at 3.] In one story he liked to tell, after being called out at third base during a baseball game, he removed his eye and handed it to the umpire.

“You’ll do better with this,” he said.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

When I think of songs about domestic violence I always think of Luka first. Weird not to see it there.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Feh, brenda. That sucks.

In re: Raising Hope... BOOYAH!

That is all.

Hah! Love this. I enjoy buying clothes/jewelry while traveling so when people say "oh, those are great earrings!" I can say "I got them in Budapest/Hawaii/Peru!"

After this conversation, coincidentally, I put on some earrings my friend brought me back from Chile.

Because books.

When I think of songs about domestic violence I always think of Luka first. Weird not to see it there.

And no "Janie's Got a Gun," either.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

When I think of songs about domestic violence I always think of Luka first. Weird not to see it there.

Yeah, I guess they are all about intimate partner violence, not child abuse? In that case, I want to see Johnny Cash doing "Delia's Gone."

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

When I think of songs about domestic violence I always think of Luka first. Weird not to see it there.

And no 10,000 Maniacs' "What's the Matter Here."

But I do love a lot of the songs in that list.

Oh. That explains it.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Wow Scola! Gotta love spin.

Because books.

Christian Kane has one, "Mary (Can You Come Outside)," but I can see that not being on the radar.

That's another one I'm familiar with, although it didn't come to mind. Many of the ones they list, I didn't know.
