Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Heh. Well, one can hike the trail alone, sure. But not "hike the trail" a la South Carolina governor

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

TB, was it you that wanted more reading about aces? Here's Men, Masculinity, Sexuality, and Rape.

I'm glad to read stuff about aces, but that whole thing really put me off. First of all, I assumed it was written by a man until about halfway through. But no, it was a woman (who I'm not sure is asexual) writing about how *hard* it is for a man to be asexual compared to a woman.

And I just can't quite accept that her life experience allows her to make that sweeping statement.

And the shit she says about rape (particularly about "how likely" it is for a woman to be believed when she says she's raped) made me violently stabby. I understand she was making a comparison, saying that stereotypes and social mores make it very very unlikely for a man to be believed if he claims to have been raped by a woman, because men are always supposed to be wanting to get sexed up. But I have to question what goddamn planet she's living on if she thinks women's claims of rape are accepted in these overwhelming numbers.

Bah.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Hot and humid with occasional thunderstorms? Yup, it's summer.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Sparky, I just realized my parents are involved in a lot of dog charities and groups and probably have a wide circle of people who can help look for Sass so I sent them the info. I really am hoping Sass is home safely very soon.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Heh. Saw a vanity plate reading SKYWKR on my way home....

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Creative Hairstyles from NAHA 2011

The 2011 North American Hairstyling Awards were recently announced, and this year the nominees are bigger and poofier than ever. Another year brings another crop of robot girls, aliens, future flappers, mod androgynes, and obligatory hair-basket motifs.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I discovered that I could get pink vanity plates NICEST. But they are a minimum of $50/year and you have to pay for 10 years to get that price.

That would only be more awesome if you had a pink car!

I am posting in here rather than tech because I think perhaps Cashmere or other parents might be able to answer--

Are there any parental controls on Netflix. My BFF would like her daughter to be able to log on and find her own movies, but doesn't want her a) seeing everything they watch or b) being able to find inappropriate movies. I think she would be willing to get a separate account.

ETA: Daughter is ten

Our wings are not tired.

Sophia, I just checked my Netflix account and it looks like they can turn the parental control off and on (but not by device, it looks like. So, if turned to G, that's all anyone could watch instantly on that account...). Hope that helps!

Thanks! I will let her know- she hasn't been able to find it, but perhaps if she knows it is there, she will be more persistant!
