Natter 68: Bork Bork Bork
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
No, it is RC. Everything I've heard is third-hand so I don't know exactly what's up, but the older pastor is officially retired (but covers all the Masses anyone else can't, and does counseling and paperwork and usually presides at the Spanish Masses in return for room and board and a tiny stipend). So I assume he's been told they can't afford to house or feed him or pay his stipend and he'll have to move to a retirement home for religious. I think the deacon also gets a stipend, except apparently he doesn't anymore.
But, honestly, I don't know exactly what's up. Except that, yeah, I don't think a pastor can really fire another pastor, which is why I suspect he's being told what to do.
And today's overheard at the nail place: "Can you believe they were in the exact same colors as the evil stepsisters?? What are the odds??" The odds that it was photoshop? 100%. [link] (The nail place only has old magazines....)
Happy Birthday Dana
JZ, that sounds hard. In Rochester, we actually had a parish split and form a new church (non-RC) with the beloved pastor. But some people just never went back to either place.
I just made stuffed peppers (sausage and cream cheese stuffing) with 6 of the hungaran peppers. I hope they freeze, as I am only one person, and I still have 4 more peppers. Maybe I should take some down to the neghbor that gave them to me.
Sue, I also only have old big boxy tube tvs. OFFA MY LAWN, DAMN KIDS!! WITH UR NEW FANGLED THINGYMADOOS!
I have owned three tvs in my life: A family hand-me-down that I don't think could even get cable, the one I won on Jeopardy, and the cheap-ass flat-screen I have now.
I have 3 tv's= all boxy. The two in my home are not used=, because I have neither cable nor a box. I have the one I got for my high school graduation in the costume shop, hooked up to a DVD player. The on/off button seems to be broken, but I sort of want to get it fxed, because I got that TV n 1991!
I've owned three TVs, too. The one I bought when I went off to grad school the first time and had for 7 years, the Broksonic DH and I bought when the first one was lost, and the LG, uh, not plasma, the other thin kind, I think, that DH talked me into buying when we bought this house and the Broksonic stopped responding to remotes (it's one of those annoying types that doesn't really have buttons on the front, so it's kind of useless, but I still have it in the shed because it kind of works as a monitor for VCRs and suchlike and I have the idea that I will hook it up to something to be able to watch some kind of entertainment while riding a stationary bike out there)
Yikes, JZ.

Got back a little while ago from the memorial service of the mother of a friend of mine. She died from the exact kind of brain tumor my brother did. Same region of the brain and everything. It was a lovely service, but afterwards, my friend and I saw each other, and we both just started sobbing. I'm really glad I went, because she said that she had been thinking a lot about me these last few weeks while her mom was in hospice.
Oh, and I also have a big, boxy TV, that I got for free from my neighbor. And as part of my austerity get-me-to-France measures, I canceled cable and TiVo, so it really only functions right now to play DVDs and Wii. Which is fine. Because, FRANCE.
