Got back a little while ago from the memorial service of the mother of a friend of mine. She died from the exact kind of brain tumor my brother did. Same region of the brain and everything. It was a lovely service, but afterwards, my friend and I saw each other, and we both just started sobbing. I'm really glad I went, because she said that she had been thinking a lot about me these last few weeks while her mom was in hospice.

Oh, and I also have a big, boxy TV, that I got for free from my neighbor. And as part of my austerity get-me-to-France measures, I canceled cable and TiVo, so it really only functions right now to play DVDs and Wii. Which is fine. Because, FRANCE.

Happy Birthday Dana!

My TV is not even that old. I got it second had from Megan when they upgraded to a flat screen, but I think it was only a couple years old then. The 20" CRT that I bought in the 90s still works and is in the basement. They are both fine...The only plus to a flat screen is that it would allow me to get rid of the massive stand my massive TV is on, but I have many other priorities for my money.

I have been a ditherer all day. Now tonight i'm going to have to get shit done...

As a "reward" for hitting my 20 year anniversary at work, I get to pick an item from our internal "Merchandise Mart". So far nothing has really grabbed me, but there is a 17 inch plasma with a built in DVD player that I'm considering.

Amyth, several years ago I met a British couple on a train in Switzerland and they have become close friends. They too have places in England and France. I may go stay in their French place later this year. We have parallel lives. ;)

Jesse! when were you on Jeopardy? Also, I miss you. How silly is it that one of the main reasons I miss dating S is having a chance to visit you!!
