Thanks for the kind words on the book, all.
I'm trying to kill the symptoms of this cold so I can go to Carnivale. I have my Hit Girl costume all ready to go, my hair is freshly dyed purple, and I'm trying to will the mucus to GTFO so I can enjoy Halloween.
Typo, she's in Washington (where I am also, and have not done my ballot--but my roommate was doing his the other night, and all these propositions! Goodness! Some I'm clear on, but some?)
I'm also wary of trusting my local paper's view of things, since we're in a Republican area.
I think I'm done, though. Fingers crossed for Patty Murray. Unfortunately, I don't think the local Democrat running for the House has a chance against the incumbent dinosaur.
But here's some awesome photos from the Rally to Restore Sanity yesterday: [link]
I love "What do we want? Evidence-based change. When do we want it? After peer review." Hee!
Typo's also in WA.
Voting is hard when you don't know WHERE THE HELL you put your ballot, by the way.
Happy Anniversary, Jilli and Pete!
Happy anniversary to the House of Reason!!
all these propositions! Goodness! Some I'm clear on, but some?
I have to go into work at 6:30-7:00 am on Wednesday so I can enter into my database the results on all of the state ballot issues around the country. Some of them are real doozies, especially in Colorado. There's one (I think in Oklahoma) that prevents Sharia law from being imposed.
Not only Sharia law...it would prevent Oklahoma from taking international law into account.
I loved the photos of the rally signs from yesterday. I wish I'd taken notes (or photos). There was so much creativity and cleverness, it was overwhelming.
Not exactly clever, but my favorite sign of the whole day was "You are entitled to your own opinion. You are NOT entitled to your own facts."
It's true that, except for some 'familiarity breeds contempt' issues with space and entitlement, people were generally very civil and friendly.
Also? I'm a peace activist from way back and I can say without hesitation that I have never been to a rally that actually ran on time and delivered exactly as advertised.
Good on them.
