"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

In cross-your-fingers good news, it looks like they've gotten offsite power to Unit 2 and have gotten a backup generator working to cool the spent fuel pools in units 5 and 6. I haven't seen anything recent on the status of the unit 4 pool.

Fuck yeah.

Mower-ma, Ginger.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm assuming it's that I'm sick and a little bit hungover from last night.

Yeah, either of those would contribute to crankiness, for sure. Along with things that are cranky-making!

Um, I've been commenting in my head all day, but maybe not actually on here?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

False alarm, at least about the mower. I let it rest a while and it came back from the dead.

Has anyone else with a compost heap wondered if carrots are really food? They seem to have the half-life of a Twinkie.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

The must feel all nice and at home in a compost pile.

I'm a great believer in spontaneous healing with stuff like this. Congrats on your undead mower.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I also have a great recipe for a chocolate stout bundt cake.

So it turns out an astronomer I've had interactions with was on a bullet train from Sendai to Tokyo when the earthquake happened: [link]

Going out with some neighbors in a bit. This has been a very neighborhoody week!

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

The day our power mower shorted out when I was 13 was one of my happiest. No more mowing in the summer heat! No more getting covered in little bits of grass! Hot wrestler neighbor from down the street hired to come mow our lawn and sweat shirtlessly!

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

Discworld fans, this news is making me feel very torn between squee and fear.

Our wings are not tired.

Can someone tell me what I am missing about this wicker plant stand? What makes it worth $1200?
