Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Huh. The NSF got hit by lightning, and all their servers are down today.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I am full of don't wanna today.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

LOVE the Good Stuff site. Such a lovely idea.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Although, I have to say, a pretty good number of them would be deeply pleased with a picture of Tom Hardy with his hand down his pants. But I feel as their mentor and spiritual advisor I am probably not the right avenue for them to come across this particular bit of media.

OMG this made me choke. With awesomeness, I mean.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I am full of don't wanna today.

Me too!

Random hivemind question: What types of books would you expect to find in a prison library?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

What types of Books would you expect to find in a prison library?

I just read about a prison that only allows the Bible.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Well, I just put up a picture of a surfing dog, so I'm gong to go with yes.

That was so cute!

I don't know who I am these days. I'm beginning to scare myself. Can someone stage an intervention?

But I feel as their mentor and spiritual advisor I am probably not the right avenue for them to come across this particular bit of media.

I'm going to trade you in for a new advisor.

Wait, you weren't advising me? Never mind. As you were.

Because books.

We used to send old romances and other genre books to prisons all the time. We also got a lot of submissions from prison authors. Even for romances.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Perkins, I might expect to find street lit, romances, Westerns, sci fi, plenty of escapist stuff, plus law reference books and resources on various jobs/careers that inmates might be interested in training for. Inspirational memoirs, religious titles, plenty of other stuff depending on the particular prison's population.

I'm curious about why you're asking! Working in a prison or juvenile detention facility is something I find really interesting and hope I might get to do someday.
