I eat cheese at most meals, and chips almost every day. And I like it!

If anyone can tell me where I put my bus pass before I went away this weekend, that would be a big help.
Behind that stuff on the counter?
The idea is if they weren't trying to get something for nothing, they wouldn't bite on the con.
Merriam Webster defines con as follows:
Definition of CON
transitive verb
1: swindle
2 : manipulate 2b
3: persuade, cajole
Can honest people not be swindled, manipulated, or cajoled? I mean, I think they sure can. Just because something looks too good to be true doesn't mean you actually realised it...and if you're a good con man, it shouldn't look too good to be true, or the smart money won't fall for it.
On the table under your gloves and the mail.
Eating whatever I want works out pretty okay for me most of the time. It can be hard to tell if something is to blame for later feeling bad, because the effects are almost never instantaneous, but that doesn't happen often enough for me to really worry about it. What gets me into trouble is eating whatever's easiest, or stuff that sounded good but turned out to be not so appealing but now I have it so I'll eat it anyway, or a lot of something that really I only wanted a little of but with a lot of it in front of me I'll just keep eating it.
Hey Allyson!
msbelle, a college transcript, seriously? We're the same age. That is totally bizarro.
Not having a good day. Went for my annual physical, told my doctor that I wasn't doing so great, and then proceeded to have a panic attack in the middle of my pap smear. I did get scrips for anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds super-quick, though! I've had this doctor for five years, and she was, uh, shocked. Surprise!
Anyway. Good stuff that happened today: I walked home from the doctor (about a mile) and my knee feels fine! Also, Lulu has started eating again. She's trying for the Oldest Poodle in the World award.
Aw, amyth. I'm glad some good stuff happened.

Oh yeah.

Smart money won't fall for it. Let me put it to you in gambling terms. Back when Phil made his living separating people from their money by playing backgammon, he was always on the look out for a Pidgeon, or as he called it, a "Big Pidge."
Now the defining characteristic of a Big Pidge is they're not as good as they think they are. So you string them along and drop a few games and then you soak them.
The key is the word "Confidence" - which relates to gaining somebody's confidence, but also an over-inflated sense of your own ability.
A Con Man is a Confidence Man. They gain your confidence, but they also exploit your inflated sense of confidence. All these people who try to get something for nothing think they're gaming the system. They are wrong and they are the people you can exploit.
Tricking or swindling somebody out of money is just being a grifter. Running a con, either a short con or a long con, is different.
Old school con men had nothing but scorn for swindlers who cheated old pensioners out of their money. They were in it for the game and playing the personalities like an orchestra.
I do have to say re: eating what you want, when I was younger (and therefore smaller and shorter than I am now) I loved the shit out of some salad. Like, wrote an ode to it in elementary school. Mom started a community garden in Shreveport, where there are vast food wastelands, and she said you couldn't get the kids to wash the veggies before they were scarfing them down. There's something affecting that and I don't know what it is.
