Well, we may not have parted on the best of terms. I realize certain words were exchanged. Also, certain... bullets. But that's air through the engine. It's past. We're business people.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

I was robbed at gunpoint once while delivering pizzas for Domino's. They got two large pizzas, an insulated bag, and $17 in ones.

Afterwards, I drove half a block to the nearest pay phone, called my manager, then called 911. The police took 25 minutes to respond, listened to my story, and had zero interest in seeing the actual location in the apartment complex where the robbery took place.

Instead, they came back to the store with me, talked to the manager briefly, and left. We never heard anything more about it from them. Later, the manager told me they had spent most of the time with him trying to get him to say I might have called in a false report. Pissed me off no end.

In non-robbery, non-shooting news, I met my invisible Internet blogger tonight for the Orphée opera thing and was not axe-murdered! In fact, I had a pretty good time and met some other bloggers on the classical music/opera circuit. They were all super sweet even though I felt like a total poseur with them (since all the performers, publicists, etc. kept making a point of coming over to chat with "us").

So what did you end up wearing?? How did you feel that fit in?

(oh sure yay for not being ax murdered)

Oh, I was just in work clothes, which was fine. It was all pretty casual. The blogger I was most nervous about meeting actually turned out to be quite shy (and so not intimidating at all). She had also read my blog and put me right at ease. (ETA: There was a reception afterwards which gave everybody a chance to chat)

No, they were my uptight New Englander work clothes. But I felt comfortable in them.

Glad you had a good time, Megan.

Thanks, java. I wish I could have done both though.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I have pinkeye. WTF! I don't think either of the kids I was actually with even have it, but I did spend a half-hour in the "sick" waiting room of a pediatrician's office. Booo.
