I was discussing Jamaican homophobia the other day, and was asked "Uganda bad?" It was with a sickening relief that I could answer "No, not Uganda bad." We are bad, but there are random bursts of outness that flabbergast me. In a good way. My sister works closely with the gay community, and her (stripped for confidentiality reasons) stories are fascinating. And sometimes depressing.

Anthropologie had an expensive and disappointing range of dresses. Modcloth was much more varied and interesting. But the description of the third dress now has me wondering--what if now is a good time to indulge my longtime craving for a cheongsam? I could even go all the way and find a Chinatown tailor and have it made to fit.
