am i a crazy dirty hippie if i want to attempt vanquishing shampoo from my life? I stumbled upon a long hair board with all kinds of info on conditioner-only and water-only methods which sounds like heaven to my long hair that is always dry and brittle on the ends but luxuriously oily at the roots. Hrm, might need to invest in more hats for adjustment months.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Aims, reviewing now, but on the phone with my mother, so can't give it my full attention for a minute.
Erin, I hear good things about dry shampoo. And there are many websites and articles about the "no poo" lifestyle.
Vortex - no worries. Tell mom I said "Hi."
Erin, you might also want to look into old-fashioned bar shampoos like Liggett's. They're oil based and eliminate the need for conditioner because they leave your hair crazy soft.
Bonus for parents-- they provide a non-toxic alternative if your kids get lice, since they actually kill the live critters. When Abby suffered her first (and hopefully ONLY) bout with the little buggers, we did the toxic treatment the first day, then went to shampooing daily with the Liggett's. Didn't find another live critter on her.
The announcements, which were supposed to be done yesterday, are now in. Now that I am slounging instead of when I was out erranding.
ooh, maybe i'll start by trying the shampoo bar and silicone-free conditioner and see how that works. i do worry about turning into a stinky oil slick.
Heh. My thought at the first title on the list was, "Oh, that sounds interesting."
Thanks.
erin_O I don't use shampoo. Just conditioner and h2O. In the summer I sometimes do -- and when I used to dye my hair i did - just before dying. I have shampoo and the last time i used it was when the cat landed on my head with all claws extended.
