Erin, I hear good things about dry shampoo. And there are many websites and articles about the "no poo" lifestyle.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Vortex - no worries. Tell mom I said "Hi."
Erin, you might also want to look into old-fashioned bar shampoos like Liggett's. They're oil based and eliminate the need for conditioner because they leave your hair crazy soft.
Bonus for parents-- they provide a non-toxic alternative if your kids get lice, since they actually kill the live critters. When Abby suffered her first (and hopefully ONLY) bout with the little buggers, we did the toxic treatment the first day, then went to shampooing daily with the Liggett's. Didn't find another live critter on her.
The announcements, which were supposed to be done yesterday, are now in. Now that I am slounging instead of when I was out erranding.
ooh, maybe i'll start by trying the shampoo bar and silicone-free conditioner and see how that works. i do worry about turning into a stinky oil slick.
Heh. My thought at the first title on the list was, "Oh, that sounds interesting."
Thanks.
erin_O I don't use shampoo. Just conditioner and h2O. In the summer I sometimes do -- and when I used to dye my hair i did - just before dying. I have shampoo and the last time i used it was when the cat landed on my head with all claws extended.
Liese, your memories of the house of your childhood are lovely. I'm so glad you shared them here.
Jars, I've done that, luckily I had a roommate saying, "WTF, I never have to remind you, but rent is due".
Barb, I dunno what to say, but I am sooooooo sorely tempted to look up her new book and give a one-star review at Amazon et al.
I went up to Leeds to see friends for the evening. I'm going back there again tomorrow. I felt going twice in a week was not excessive given my serious need for vodka and venting. They are lovely friends. And I'm going to see The Girl in Geneva on Friday and we're coming home again together on Monday. My only goal at the moment, you may have noticed, is distraction. And vodka. And chocolate. And for a long-term goal, Buffista Island University.
Maybe it would be better to have a separate library-pool - where we would have special water-proof editions of various and sundry classics for watery lounging pleasure.
We can have a lot of them. I want my own personal library. With a bar in it.
Sorry to hear about your cold, Vortex, and that you can't get the meds you need. Frustrating. Hope you feel better.
Health~ma to you too, Hil.
Eek - hope your grown-up fail is easily rectified, Jars.
