happy birthday, Emmett! 14, how shocking.
Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Speaking of fucking socialists, you know who doesn't loom large on the maternal mortality increase list of shame? By and large, the fucking socialists. You know who's sitting there between Zimbabwe and Swaziland, with a 96% increase in maternal mortality since 1990? The good ol' US of A.
Swaziland has a 30% HIV rate dragging down everyone's mortality figures. And Zimbabwe is under the rule of a total dickhead. Not sure what the UK and Luxembourg are doing there, though.
We are not good on maternal care. Lack of funding. The NHS: fantastic concept, not always properly funded.
Heh. Flickr turned up somebody's 2nd Grade Class Photo at Grattan from 1954.
I love driving. It was the first taste of freedom, since I wasn't so good at the bike thing. Even as a kid, I would pretend to drive in the backseat or passenger seat. Fake steering wheel, gas pedal. Love it. That said, Boston sucked. Granted, I was there pre-GPS days, at the start of Big Dig, and nothing was labeled, and I had no clue where I was going. But the drivers were worse then NYers. DC just messed with my head, being radial instead of grid. LA/OC is fine. Better with GPS. Just slow. And once you learn to stay in the middle lane, or else end up on another freeway, you are fine. As a pedestrian I hated Baltimore. You had to count to 5 before crossing the street. People BLEW through red lights at warp speed. Very not safe. Didn't like that.
Still better than the U.S. (barely) at a fraction of the cost. Not that lots are not better. Including France.
Including France.
Oh sure, they're better in medical statistics, but they are WAY behind in insurance company profits.
All pray to the Holy Dollar.
Jilli, Goth Pundit. What does her Army of Darkness think about the midterms? Is there a pall, or would that just be another day at the office?
Ha! It would totally be another day at the office. But the health care would be MUCH FUCKING BETTER, THANKS.
... whooo, I am sugared up. My co-workers took me to lunch and bought me a brownie hot fudge sundae.
So I have three months to really work on my writing. Cue the nervous laughter.
Jilli, I'm working on a screenplay again, so if you want a motivational partner, I'm in.
