Ginger, I share your stabby rage.
We are switching insurance June 1st. Our current insurance is Aetna. Despite paying our premium for May, Aetna dropped us on May 1st. It was an error on their part, but they can't reinstate it until Monday.
Try and follow all this:
I found out that on our new insurance, getting an IUD will be close to $1,000. Under Aetna, it's the cost of a co-pay. My IUD needs to be swapped out for a new one in August. Because I can do math, I made an appointment to have it done before the end of May, while we're still on Aetna.
I was supposed to have it done tomorrow.
Since Aetna says we aren't covered, my OB/GYN can't do it, because they have to actually order the Mirena from CVS Caremark. When they tried to do that, CVS Caremark said that I had no insurance. They can't just do it anyway, have me pay out of pocket, and get reimbursed from Aetna later (not that that's ideal, but it would get it done). It seriously has to go through my insurance. So I'm wondering what my OB/GYN does with patients who don't have insurance. I guess patients without insurance go to Planned Parenthood.
Anyway, once the insurance is reinstated -- and all that has to be done is that the damn computer records need to be changed -- then CVS Caremark will send the goddamn IUD to my OB/GYN, and I can get it done. And in theory, on Monday, all that red tape can be dealt with, and next Friday I can get it done.
But it's really fucking close to the end of the month, and if something goes wrong with all this and the IUD doesn't get sent to my OB/GYN by next Friday, I'm damn near out of time, because the following Monday is Memorial Day, and I assume everyone is closed then. The day after Memorial Day is May 31, so I could technically still do it then, but of course that would depend on whether my OB/GYN has an appointment available.
I'm just violently angry at everyone right now.
