Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Last year, when my company changed insurance companies, they "lost" me for almost two months. Everyone else* got their cards and got coverage; when I called to ask where mine was, they said they didn't show any record of me being coverd.

  • Except for the one other older woman on staff.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I'm trying very hard to be zen about this and tell myself that it will all work out (because it most likely will), but the clock is ticking and I need to get this done before the end of the month, and I just can't be chill when I'm running out of time and getting it done before the end of the month is the difference between $50 and $1,000.

sj, I'm so sorry you're dealing with this, but very glad for F that she has you there. This is TCG's step-grandmother, right? I think it's wonderful that you're spending so much time with her now. It's a gift to be able to be there with her, as hard as it is.

Yes, she is a wonderful, amazing woman who made me feel like a part of the family immediately. And, she adores TCG, so she is obviously a smart woman. It will be awful to lose her of course, but the hardest part really seems to be seeing her this way all weak and helpless.

Teppy, have you explained it to your doctor? They may be willing to try to squeeze you in more if they understand the urgency.

I'm worried about an upcoming change in insurance also--at the beginning of the year, they sold off my part of the company to another. They said it would happen (and insurance would change, etc) end of Q1, and then they said end of April...and now they're saying end of June. But each time I start wondering when I can make my doctor's appointments and stuff, and if the insurance will be irksome and if the docs will be covered, etc. Just made an eye appointment, and was like "no, I need to do it soon, so it's under this insurance!"

In happier news, I just bought tickets to see Neil Gaiman next month in New Hampshire. I can't wait.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

You know, I wouldn't be so irritated by my mother wanting to ask me for advice for every little thing if she would just take the advice and make a decision. Don't ask for advice and then try to convince me that I'm wrong. I don't really care what she does, so I am disinclined to argue with her. She asks me what I think, I tell her. I don't need to defend my opinion.

“Not dead yet!”

My mother invited herself along on my working trip to New York next week. Only for the two days I don't have too many set commitments, but STILL--

I've already informed her that I will not be at her disposal. We all know she doesn't really believe that, right?

Tell me the Universe is giving me Karma points.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I should not engage in facebook arguments about Israel with my cousin. This could not possibly end well.
