I just don't want to be employed by them when they go bankrupt, if that happens - would I be eligible for unemployment, then?
I can't say with certainty, but I'd expect so. No fault of your own and all. You might miss the last paycheck though. Still, it's a bridge, not a foundation.
I don't know the laws in every state, but you should be. You should be eligible for unemployment now, as long as you weren't fired for committing a crime or anything.

Aw, thanks, Burrell. I'm doing it all on a couch under a blanket with a cat between my feet, so it's fairly painless. And I might as well use the adrenaline while I've got it. I really need to tackle my resume, but I'm not up for that right now.
Next question to ponder... do I go ahead and give notice to my landlady? Should probably line up a place to crash here, first. But I need to do it soon, if I'ma do it. Hmm. I sure don't want to be locked into a year lease, so maybe I might as well.
