You always think harder is better. Maybe next time I patrol, I should carry bricks and use a stake made out of butter.

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

That's a great lighthouse.

I agree.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Nora, I'm sorry about the shitty situation. Wish I could say something more helpful.

In other note, quester, I totally understand (as many other Buffista do). Whenever I'm lucky enough to work with non-zombies who can understand the difference between "workmates" and "friends", surprisingly enough they become friends faster and easier than any social or bossy pressure to "act friendly". As others say, in order to "fake it" one has to change few behaviors, but not herself.

Oh, and.

I think I am friendly...with my friends

I'm erika.

Aims, that lighthouse rocks.

I don't think I've ever been to/seen a lighthouse IRL, y'all.

Our wings are not tired

I'm on the opposite side of the employment situation most of the time. I'm the one doing the hiring. Here's the thing, I've hired many excellent people because of their personalities. Much of my work involves keeping clients happy and mollified and being able to guide them along in such a way that they don't realize they are being guided. I've had better luck finding employees with the right temperament and then teaching them in any areas where their skills may be lacking, than I have had when I've hired people who excellent skill sets but don't mesh well with my expectations for dealing with people. It seems that I can get people to learn the technical skills, but I can rarely get significant alterations in personal interactions.

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

I forgot - the other day I was in sitting in the (normally) empty office, when someone came in. I was my usual self, nice and all, but somehow this person read it as "you're extremely nice and friendly!", and made the whole interaction pretty amusing.

I guess that when you fake it long enough, people assume it's real. Or maybe he felt tiny bits of my first embarrassment, as he walked in right after I finished 15 minutes of bitching in front of and talking to the books I put in place.

I'll admit, I know I've gotten some jobs not because of my technical skills, but because I'm personable and good at making others want to talk to me.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

How did I not hear Summer Glau is in a new series? The Cape. She is looking older, and I say that in a good way. Hubba hubba!

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Good lord, I feel like hammered crap today. Achy, mucous-filled, coughing, feverish, and pouty about the previous four things. Good thing I have about a month of sick leave banked. I just hope this clears up by tomorrow morning, as that's my next flying lesson. (Priorities!)

Feel better, Calli. I'm glad you're staying home today.

And none of us deserving the cruelty or the grace -- Leonard Cohen

Calli, I'm glad you're staying home today, too, especially because I just saw a car that looks just like yours in a bad accident on the way in to work today. I came into the thread to make sure it wasn't yours.

Also, feel better!

Oh, dear. No, I'm lying on the sofa with a cat across my chest. Pity about the other driver, though.
