I've had better luck finding employees with the right temperament and then teaching them in any areas where their skills may be lacking, than I have had when I've hired people who excellent skill sets but don't mesh well with my expectations for dealing with people.

I'll admit, I know I've gotten some jobs not because of my technical skills, but because I'm personable and good at making others want to talk to me.

Good lord, I feel like hammered crap today. Achy, mucous-filled, coughing, feverish, and pouty about the previous four things. Good thing I have about a month of sick leave banked. I just hope this clears up by tomorrow morning, as that's my next flying lesson. (Priorities!)
