I once watched four of my aunts friends get into all but a shouting match over which sage was best to smudge with.
Hippies. What are ya gonna do?
Angelus ,'Smile Time'
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Tell 'em to use salt water, because smudging with sage isn't needed?
(Trust me, I hear these arguments with the Wiccans I hang out with.)
I like the smell of burning sage. But, you know, growing up in the California desert was kinda hippie already.
Best was that I always ask my mom to bring me sage from her gigantic shrub when she visits. First time she did, I took a leaf out and smoldered it. Just because I could. Because I had a ton of wonderful fresh sage to cook with again.
She walked out of her room a few minutes later, "Do I smell pot?" "Um, sage. The sage you just handed me?"
My mom wasn't a very good hippie, clearly.
I use White Sage and really like the smell but, yeah. I've smudged a few corporate client offices and felt bad about the lingering aroma. It's not for everyone.

heh.
mmm, i love the smell of burning sage. my dad brings me sage from the desert around the Jemez res whenever he visits. i've never tried using it for cooking, tho. bet it would be divine.
Roommate burning smelly eye-watery stuff in the house when I'm not around and haven't said yes? Reason #43 for not having a roommate. Even in college I stayed in the single-room dorms.

I have some smudge sticks that are a combo of white sage, lavender, and cedar that I really like. But the smoke irritates Daniel's allergies so I make sure to do it when he is not around.
white sage, lavender, and cedar
Hmmm. Where did you find them?
EBay.
Brand is Triloka "Global Shaman Smudge". Label says all herbs for the smudge wands are "gathered with great care and respect for the environment by Native Americans". I got a package of three several years ago.
