Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Yeah, thanks java--I figured you might know. :) I figure everything is closed til Monday, but if I'm still feeling like this then I'll call the doc. I keep hoping the sudafed will magically fix things.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We had a large group of very excited kids setting off fireworks at midnight in the street directly in front of our house. We recognized out neighbor's kid and we wondered if he was home and knew his 14-year-old was outside with a big group. We were ready to get worried, but exactly at 12:15, the dad came out, and all the kids carefully picked up every bit of the trash and happily filed into the house. Made me happy for them and for our neighborhood.

Our wings are not tired.

Scrappy, it's always a delight to see good parenting in action, isn't it?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Aww, I love that stuff.

Occasionally I’m callous and strange

thanks to the magic of ambien i slept through all firework-related noise, and the kitties spent most of the night burrowed under the covers, basking in my warmth. Nico clearly overindulged last night, waking me at 4am with his hoarking (i kicked him off the bed, stayed awake long enough to make sure he hoarked on the floor and not my duvet) and has continued hoarking up fur and bits of clear plastic every few hours since then. Poor dude, i can't figure out where he found so much plastic...i'm usually quite good at keeping it out of kitty-reach.

In the meantime, the black eyed peas simmer and i can't wait to try Laga's tomato-ey goat cheese deliciousness. Mmmmmm.

Compassionately intolerant

Well humans love symbolism, metaphors and rituals.

Yep. I use aLOT of metaphor and ritual in my work and people do love it.

“Not dead yet!”

Happy New Year, Bitches!

It would seem that I have missed quite a bit of sadness around here, so much love and ~ma to those who need, both Buffista and by extension.

We've been very mellow since my mom left late Tuesday night. We were looking forward to playing tourist around Seattle with the remaining vacation days, but Lewis came down with an absolutely horrid case of some sort of stomach ick that made him violently ill most of Wednesday. Thursday he was still so wiped, he just stayed in bed all day. By yesterday, he was feeling better, but by no means completely 100%. Luckily, we had nothing major planned for the eve other than pizza, ice cream, and watching my Seminoles beat South Carolina. At midnight we watched the fireworks from the Space Needle on TV and called it a night.

And today is ham and football.

May 2011 bring peace, good health, and deserving happiness to all of you. I'm grateful for each and every one of you.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

i can't wait to try Laga's tomato-ey goat cheese deliciousness.

That does sound incredibly delicious. Wonder if I could persuade The Girl to try cooking something like that on a special occasion. I had a baked goat's cheese starter in a restaurant the other day and it was divine.

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

but Lewis came down with an absolutely horrid case of some sort of stomach ick that made him violently ill most of Wednesday. Thursday he was still so wiped, he just stayed in bed all day. By yesterday, he was feeling better, but by no means completely 100%.

Yeah, I know that one.

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Dammit. Another day when hours were spent online and daylight is fading. Plus I'm tired and RSI-achey and don't feel like doing much. But I've got a dress to finish by Jan 5. I need to sew and place ties for it (converted to wrap-around). I need to finish the sleeves and the hems. Bleagh. I may nap. I went to bed at 5am and woke up around 9:30am.
