Mal: Well said. Wasn't that well said, Zoe? Zoe: Had a kind poetry to it, sir.

'Out Of Gas'

Spike's Bitches 46: Don't I get a cookie?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

This is my BF they're talking about!

It's great that a plus-size woman is getting treated properly, but the rest of the "how wonderful were the 50s!" thing is pretty offputting. "Oh, if only we could go back to the time when women didn't have to do all that awful work outside the home and we were loved for our full-figured glory!" Can't we work outside the home, be full-figured, and still be loved?

And the boy is being rambunctious--but not destructive, just adorably boy-like!--and the girl is lady-like and delighted to see her daddy and so proud that she helped mommy bake.

That was disturbing.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Good god. Those pictures are great, but the post itself reeks of revisionist bullshit.

The 1950s were the last decade in history in which women were still encouraged to be feminine; the last decade when the fuller figure was still the ideal of beauty. It was a better, nobler age; a time of greater social cohesion and harmony; a time before cultural Marxism and all of its offshoots agitated gender hostility, class warfare, and other forums of societal discontent. It was the last decade in which the natural order of things still held sway. These beautiful images compellingly evoke the idyllic appeal of those times.

Plus-size models recall a time of greater gender harmony, of veneration for the traditional family, and of respect for natural relations between men and women.

What is that crap? Seriously? It's offensive.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

The introduction to her is my favorite. I can't get to it on the computer though. That site is blocked.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Wow. Connie, I thought at first you were being a bit harsh, but then I followed the link and, ye gods.

Er, but DJ, your friend is gorgeous!

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Your friend is gorgeous!!! The post is @@, but your friend is totally lovely.

Have applied calagel, which my iPhone tried to correct to falafel. Hmm, I wonder if chickpeas would help...

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Rather than the 9-to-5 drudgery to which they have been "liberated" by modern ideology, countless women would prefer to be homemakers creating delectable baked goods and living lives of ease and contentment, while their husbands would happily be the family's sole breadwinners, gladly working so that their brides could have whatever they want, rejoicing in the knowledge that every day they would come home to find an angel in the house. In such traditional circumstances, children would receive all of the attention that they require, and as a result, sons would grow up to be responsible young men, while daughters would become ladylike and well-mannered. (How different from the broken homes of today, which lead to juvenile delinquency, drug use, crime, and promiscuity.)

As the primary breadwinner and wife of a soon-to-be SAHD, may I say FUCK OFF to this entire paragraph?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Yeah, I'm mostly happy she's getting some press. It's been rough in LA for her for a while.

Connie, I thought at first you were being a bit harsh, but then I followed the link and, ye gods.

I know, I saw the pictures and thought "Rock on with your good-looking self!", then I started to read. I was hoping the comments would go "Um, what?", but sadly no.

She's a cutie!

I'll second that.

Rather than the 9-to-5 drudgery to which they have been "liberated" by modern ideology, countless women would prefer to be homemakers creating delectable baked goods and living lives of ease and contentment, while their husbands would happily be the family's sole breadwinners

Um... those countless women are still perfectly free to find a partner who would facilitate that life. It's not like it's illegal now.
