Fred: The size and depth of the wound indicate a female vampire. Harmony: Or gay! Fred: Um…it doesn't really work like that.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Well, yeah.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Well, yeah.

I guess it would throw the rhythm off if they sang it "Do you know what it means to miss N'orlins".

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

So, all the people who sing "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans," including the people who are from there, are DOIN IT RONG? That is seriously fucking hilarious.

I'm going to claim a lyrical rhyming defense here. In popular music all sorts of vowels are shifted in the name of the almighty couplet.

Do not EVEN get me started on the grammatical kerfuckery that is "Live and Let Die." Gah.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

It does have a bit of a hurdle to get into, I swear. I'm two eps in (I probably shouldn't be going back and doing the commentary right after each ep), and I can objectively see that it's quality, and the amount of talent oozes off the screen, but I'm not addicted.

But it's definitely one of those shows that makes me feel like the shortcoming is mine and not its.

Give it a season, really. It's not a show that exists in serialized chunks; it's more like a Russian novel (if a Russian novel had gay assassins). You will not regret how slow it builds. And leave those commentaries! I haven't heard the season one ones but the season 2 ones have spoilers.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

No, do get started. Because I do figure it could be fixed, and I'm not sure what I'm missing.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I'm in the other camp. Slept with a woman. Really dug it, but it made me certain I was pretty darn straight despite the pleasure it gave me. I realized I didn't hunger to do it again as often as possible, the way I do with men. If I had great sex with a guy, I wanted more more more. I spent time with this woman after we did the delicious deed and although I was perfectly open to continuing, I just did not want to. I sometimes fantasize about women, but then I fantasize about everything, so I don't find that indicative of my proclivities. Vanilla me.

It's the Netflix curse--since I'm not going to have them all in my hand at once, I figure I might as well get them listened to ASAP. But you're right--they're going to assume ep 1 that I've seen the whole series. I just don't want to miss the creatorly goodness.

I still have disc 1. Maybe this weekend.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I found that each season takes about four episodes to get into. It takes that long to set up all the pieces so they can start moving them around in interesting ways.
