How funny that I was just listening to someone yesterday about how we're too clean and that's why we have allergies, etc.
If only! I'd be the least allergic person EVAR.

I didn't grow up around lakes and have never made peace with them. We hung out in and around one when we escaped for weekends at university, and no...it's not my thing. Oceans and running water, thank you. Or chlorine.
I found an entirely forgotten pair of shoes! T-strap mary janes with stacked wood heels. Not every day shoes, but they'll do for every now and again. And they look great.
This is why I don't need to be buying any cowboy boots. But I wanna.

Oh, not that it was the only reason, just that we were doing kids no favors by being hyper-clean (which always makes me flash back to psycho mom who made me boil all her baby's bottles and dishes for 20 minutes and change her diaper using distilled water and cotton balls).

I am totally the opposite, hate chlorine and salt water.
My cousins and I would swim at a place we called "Sammy Gill's" aka San Miguel's on Toledo Bend when we stayed with my grandparents. I quit swimming there the day I saw the skeleton of an alligator gar washed up on the beach.
THAT? lives in THERE? Hells to the N-O.
I do shower after going in the ocean because otherwise I feel salty for the rest of the day.
Aw, my mom fell at the school where she works part-time today (tripped over Legos), and actually face-planted. Has an enormous shiner but no broken bones in her face, stitches in her lip and inside her mouth, and a broken hand, which she has to see the orthopedist about.
My poor mommy.
They have showers at the beach in Florida so everybody rinses off to remove both the salt and whatever sunblock/lotion you've got on.
I grew up swimming in oceans and freshwater canals, and preferred the canals which were cool and didn't burn my eyes. But I was surprised when a friend of mine refused to swim because of live critters in the ocean and canals.
I have gotten ear infections from swimming in the canals though. Lots of amoebic infections in there. And sometimes alligators.
Oh no! Poor mommy, indeed!
I like the crusty feeling of having saltwater dry on my body. How it stings a bit after you've had sun exposure? Delightful. But whatever body of water I've been swimming in, rivers included, showers follow.
Ugh, Amy. I feel the faceplant pain. I hope she has no complications.
