Woo, bon! (and not "gummint" Vortex?)
And also Woo Gaiman, Scola!
I used to make homemade eggnog with raw eggs every Christmas. Till everybody got horridly sick one year, including the cats. I still make homemade eggnog, I just use Egg Beaters. H used to make steak tartare, but we couldn't find high enough qualiy beef for a long time, and then we sort of forgot about it.
I might try making eggnog this year, if it's possible to make it in small quantities.
Keep us updated if it's convenient, Scola, that sounds like fun!
What do I have to do to get Captain Jack (either one, or the Colonel) to visit me? I will write whatever letter I have to.

if it's possible to make it in small quantities.
It is, absolutely. I used to make it for one.
Hmm. I wonder if my sister has booked our Christmas getaway yet...
I'm, like, the third oldest dude here.
Congratulations, bon! What neighbourhood will you be working in?
Fairfax and Wilshire*

I may have to hit you up for tips, ita. It was your description of eggnog's deliciousness that makes me want to try it.
Go bon bon!
DH and I read the Michael Pollan book (the short one--anyone read it or his earlier food-related books?)
I just read the short one, Scrappy. And aside from having issues with portions (I like food, okay?!), I'm already doing almost everything he recommends. Of course, I have the luxury of working where I do and being able to afford a CSA.
So, yeah. I've totally been eating healthy for over a year! Ask me how!
Now if only the magical weight loss fairy would visit. That mofo owes me big time.
While I scoff at the raw food diet, I am a big fan of raw foods, in both vegetable and animal forms. Salad, sushi, steak tartare. Delish. I've had beef that fits that "blue" description, but it was called something else. Seared maybe?

God, do I ever know that feeling. I'm still convinced I have a shady past that's going to be outed on my next security check.
-t, I love to spread the joy of egg nog, made with whole eggs, but cooked. Mmm, nummy. I'm not sure when I became egg cup chick for the family, but by the time I left for university I had already become accustomed to making eggnog for the family every Christmas morning.
Just the start of a drunken day.
