Brazilian blowouts use high amounts of formaldehyde. I'm stunned by the high amount of emotion in the comments. I'm pretty used to the good hair/bad hair issue among black women, but to see white women crying over their hair to this extent and saying that they'd rather have regular treatments with exposure to 8% formaldehyde than find another way to handle their curls and/or frizz, or to live with them, I'm taken aback. Uh, buzz cuts for everyone.
Doesn't surprise me. Curly hair can get complicated -- both the hair itself and all the emotions and conversations around it.

I find myself in the horribly unfortunate position of agreeing with the evil jackasses who protest at military funerals. I don't think they should, I think what they're saying is ridiculous and hurtful...but saying they can't? Worries me. What if I want to protest at a president's funeral? A celebrity? My deadbeat dad who left me out of the will after not paying child support? Where does the line get drawn?
I think they do have a First Amendment right to say whatever they want. However, I also think their choice to say it at a funeral in a manner that deliberately adds to the suffering of already grief-stricken relatives should open them up to lawsuits for infliction of emotional distress that will rightfully strip them of every ill-gotten dollar they've ever made through their hate speech. Hopefully being reduced to subsistence level farming and/or begging for food will give them something to do with their time other than harass innocent and vulnerable people.
