Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Is Cass in that self-harm derby, or does she just do improbable things like set water on fire?

Ha! I try to not mention some of the self-harm. Like when I stumbled getting out of a bus recently. I was, apparently, tired of the old scar tissue on my knee and wanted new scar tissue.

Setting water on fire is just so weird that I have to post about it every time. My parents have all been irradiated but I am the one with a ridiculous superpower.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

when I make that recipe, I don't peel/seed/cut up the squash -- I actually just cut it in half vertically, scoop out the seeds and string-y good, and then bake it.

I...didn't even notice that the recipe said to peel and dice before cooking. I just popped mine in the oven halved and scooped so it would be ready tomorrow when I'm actually going to eat it.

(Minor rant about Veg Times recipes - "taco sauce" and "enchilada sauce" are not ingredients in my world! At least link to a homemade version, please magazine? So I know what the hell these things are supposed to taste like?)

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, I was wondering that too, mostly since the other main ingredients are cream cheese, sugar, and cinnamon. I was wondering how those flavors would go together.

Jesus, ita. Just reading all that....could the ER have been staffed by bigger assholes overnight? I'm horrified.

I spent lots of money at hardware stores today: more stripper, caulk, paint (hope it matches well enough), mini roller, knifes edge, spackle, sandpaper.

Once upon a time, the things I shopped for meant less, not more, work for me...

I think the cats are feeling the cooler temps. Me, I just put on long pants and a fleece. Them, they're rolling into tighter balls and burrowing further into the covers or me.

Eh, I use salsa more often than not. I think "taco sauce" and "enchilada sauce" are runnier than salsa and have no chunky veggie pieces like onion and whatnot in it. (I think.) And it turns out just fine with salsa.

Pretty damn tastily.

How do you think it would go with a fruity salsa?

That's actually really good to know, since I also have salsa to use up! And half a Napa cabbage to stand in for the lettuce, which means I can make these with no shopping. Awesomecakes.

[edit: Wait, I'm not sure I have Monterrey Jack cheese. Might have to use cheddar. Eh, close enough.]

Oooh, interesting. I think I'd worry that the overall effect might be too sweet. But I've had fruity salsa that also managed to be spicy enough to make me cry, and if it's that kind of salsa, it might work.

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

My major culinary achievement for the day was to put chopped-up apples and cinnamon inside crescent rolls. They turned out okay. Made the house smell nice.
