A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Could you write a strongly worded letter, have your doc sign it, and whip it out when you're too pain-filled to argue?

Like a diabetic bracelet: "If you're reading this, it's because I am in too much pain to advocate strongly for myself verbally right now. Here's the facts: blah blah specifics-cakes."

What is even happening?

I like the letter idea, Erin.

Really? She's been super whiny this week. Though Emmett got about 200% easier after he was 4.5.

I've been anxious about this transition stretch with the new school. I know there will be heels dug in and tears shed for several weeks.

Then again, she's been such a fuss butt this weekend it won't be a huge change.

I should note that the fussy is about 20% of her waking time and the rest is cheery and charming with much imaginative play, verbal invention and long, misremembered stories with curious and surreal narrative turns.

Well, a school change is a big deal to a little kid -- like a job change is to an adult, but with less ability to tell everyone to Eff off.

I mean I think four is a great age for the child herself (neutral for the parents). You're big enough that you can do loads of things, but you're little enough that nobody expects much of you. It's a great low-pressure mix of freedom/ability. If I had to be a child, I'd be four, again.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

Okay, we're up to 10 police cars and an ambulance.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Not usually that much excitement at a retirement community, is there?

Based on minimal viewings of L&O, what looks to be some sort of homicide detective just showed up.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Happy birthday Matilda !

so sorry , Theresa

I tend to drink red wines in the 8- 15 dollar range, whites in the 10 - 20 dollar range - so at 25 dollars for reds I'd be guessing but I was pleased to see my new favorite (Folie A Deux's Menage a Trois Red ) mentioned.

Concert day in town -- It will be warm

I wish I could just go somewhere to get flensed but none of the whaling ships near me take Medicare.

Definitely not what I'd expect at a retirement community, megan.

Happy birthday to Matilda!

As you might have seen, I was up 'til 4am last night. Good god. Kinda woke up hourly from 8 on this morning... Finally got up around 11. Gotta stop doing this to myself.

ita, I hope the assertiveness tips work.
