Oh, grandpa was in D's closet for years and years. We teased that meant that he still had to wear a coat and tie at Thanksgiving dinner because his dad insisted and dad was right there. In the closet.
Once grandma died, we scattered them both together.
Word of warning - ashes held in a humid environment for years? Turns into rock on its own.
