This is our ninth year at our current jobs. The mind, it boggles. I always previously used to get antsy around five years. Like if I somehow stuck with a job too long, I'd have committed too much of my life and identity with it. This one, that's water under the bridge.

Liese, this is my 10th year doing what I'm doing, though I've changed schools multiple times. I'm still with the same "company" but a new location. For me, there is something about this job that means it automatically means committing too much of your life! Even in year 1.

ita, on the JJ Board, I snerked when I read "Dramatically change your hair, Go back to start. Unless you're Keri Russell then GAME OVER."

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

16 years in one place, give or take a few months, sadly not in quite the same position as where I started out (embarrassingly, I still have dreams about my old boss--sometimes we're just talking or hanging out companionably like father and daughter, but in the most recent one, he'd hired me back except with the added job duty of constructing large, elaborate ice sculptures of Chinese dragons), but still mostly at the same place, with about a year of temping there before going full time. It's not remotely ideal, but it's safe, and I'm good at it. So there's that.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I've heard there are even people who don't like BACON!

HEY!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

HEY!

But you don't like bacon. It's not slander if it's true.

The fact that everybody knows that bacon-hating is a character defect isn't our fault.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

Huh. Finally got my final grade for a class from last semester. Thought I was getting a C+. Got a B- instead. Rock.

Question for the hivemind....

As I was driving down the mainstreet near my house, a minivan pulled out of the Target parking lot and hit a honda civic pushing the civic across the street and around. The driver of the civic got out and took off running behind CVS, trying to get away.

I was immediately behind the civic and kept going because I have a kid who needs the potty.

Would you have called 911 on getting home (it was 1 minute from my house)?
