Just point any haters my way, msbelle and etc. I'm a pro-choice, heathen, librul, pro-science, pro-intellectual elitist who is spending perfectly good US dollars on helping people in Other Countries. Some of whom are Muslim. And brown. I haven't tried to gay marry one of the wimmin to bring her into the states and take jobs away from American Christian straight men, yet, but I've only been to Senegal on the taxpayer dime the once.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

from my cold, dead, nicest one here hands.

Jesse - as you might guess, the orphan situation in Haiti is making me crazy. The people from my agency will not even discuss Haiti on the discussion boards. I just hope than any of the people who try to steal and/or profit off of the children will be swiftly caught and killed.

Because books.

No, actually, I think that's a plus. A friend's mother apparently recently suggested to her that she "get one of those Haiti babies."

Humans make me cry.

I saw a bumper sticker at the grocery store a couple of days ago. It said "Universal Health Care is Pro-Life". Naturally it was slapped onto the bumper of a Volvo. Around here, I'm surprised nobody fire-bombed it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just hope than any of the people who try to steal and/or profit off of the children will be swiftly caught and killed.

That's not very nice. I mean, fair, but not Nice.

My daughter did the gifted program testing today. Hopefully she'll get in, it'll be a blow to her ego if she doesn't get in when her little brother is already in the program.

So, in the same vein, I had a fascinating question at the reference desk today. A student asked for books on biblical texts, and explained he was having an argument with a friend who insisted that the King James Bible was the only religiously correct version in English of the bible, and the proof of this was it was not in copyright. I scarcely knew where to begin to address that little logic problem, but I sent my student off to books about the history of the King James, and biblical textual and translations issues.

To be fair, Leif's got that whole Evil Genius thing going for him.

Maybe under the "truth is beauty, beauty truth" argument, as I find the language in the KJV the loveliest of any translation I've read. Is the student arguing with Keats?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

and the proof of this was it was not in copyright.

The what now? Okay, that's a new one.
