Natter 65: Speed Limit Enforced by Aircraft

I've been trying to find something that I enjoy doing in addition to going to the gym, because I find the gym so deeply boring.
Oh me too! Hate it! I joined a gym but only go for spin class (and only from one teacher who I love, other spin classes I've been to have been horrible) and I've been working with a trainer once a week for a couple of months to try to help fix my bum knee. I can't get motivated to just go and work out on the machines.
Isn't there figure skating RPF?
The second album is !-less.
At what point does it tick over and get the title "bandom"?
Bandom seems mostly to be a certain type of pop-punk/post-punk. Before that, with NKOTB, etc., it was called popslash, but others could tell you more about that than I can.
I think the teen element of the audience for bandom bands is what drives it. I can't say for sure, but I don't think there are a lot of Kings of Leon or Metallica communities or fic out there, for example, although god knows I could be wrong.
I'm curious about the term "bandom". It's only some bands that fall under that rubric, right?
Yep. Mostly the bands on the Fueled By Ramen/Decaydance lables (that Pete Wentz is associated with), with MCR being included in bandom because ... they toured with FOB on Warped? I think that's the reason.
Does every ardent fan fall into bandom? Every ardent fan that's part of a community? At what point does it tick over and get the title "bandom"?
Y'know, I'm not sure when label "bandom" becomes applicable. For me, it was when I started reading fic. But I don't consider fic to be a necessary part of bandom.
It's only some bands that fall under that rubric, right?
As far as I am concerned, the main three bands in bandom are Fall Out Boy, Panic! and My Chemical Romance. All the other bands are connected in some way to one of those three bands. Many were/are on the Fueled By Ramen label (which is where FOB started). Some are spinoffs of bandom bands, such as Vein Envy. Others are "bandom-adjacent" for having toured with one of those three, such as Amanda Palmer when she was in Dresden Dolls, or Mindless Self-Indulgence (now doubly connected since the bassist, Lynn-Z, is married to Gerard Way of MCR). Confused yet?
Someone else will have to get the rest, I have to catch a bus. Is there a bandom wiki somewhere? Oh lordy, and now I'm thinking of that hilarious "intro to bandom" slide show that octette did on lj...
I thought it was kind of annoying that the default of Outlook here is to set replies to blue, but it does mean that you can easily put your replies in the text of the question, thus ensuring you hit the questions actually asked. It's a boon. That's not always exploited.
I do this, though for some people I switch to red. People here are distressingly non-specific in email. It should not take 5 emails for me to understand that you want to know if legal has signed off on something. "Does this have approval?" is asking me if my boss and the CD have signed off.
Also, in "I forget other people aren't us." news. I was coming up with classic screen couples, and a coworker mentioned Maverick and Charlie, and before I knew it, "I think you mean "Maverick and Ice Man" came flying out of my mouth.
Not really the same thing, but I also insisted on adding Ennis and Jack. I would like it if this list reflected more than hetero couples.
There was GCS fic *before* Fay started writing her (adorable! brilliant!) story.
Was there really? Oh dear lord.
Actually, when I first heard of RPF (and it was in regards to bands) my reaction was, "What if people started writing stories about Jilli?" That's pretty much been my standard ever since. If it would make me/Jilli uncomfortable were it about Jilli I skip it.
This pretty much amounts to "no sex" (which eliminates a LOT)with the noted exception of an extended tale where everyone turned into vampires and fucked. That one I read. Hell, Jilli might have recced it.
Mostly I've enjoyed "what if they'd never been a band and all worked at a ___________" stories. Oh, and prequels/sequels to videos.
with MCR being included in bandom because ... they toured with FOB on Warped? I think that's the reason.
And also because they are awesome.
U.S. Military Weapons Inscribed With Secret 'Jesus' Bible Codes:
U.S. military rules specifically prohibit the proselytizing of any religion in Iraq or Afghanistan and were drawn up in order to prevent criticism that the U.S. was embarked on a religious "Crusade" in its war against al Qaeda and Iraqi insurgents.
One of the citations on the gun sights, 2COR4:6, is an apparent reference to Second Corinthians 4:6 of the New Testament, which reads: "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."
I'm not even sure Jesus would be cool with that.
